Drawing on four decades of hands-on work—ranging from expert systems for USPS and gas turbine controls to intelligent tutoring systems and current AI/ML at General Motors—Dr. Scott Wolff will argue that mathematics has remained the continuous language across every era of AI. He'll demonstrate how the current integration of symbolic and statistical approaches is less a break with the past than a return to it.

Staff Data Scientist, Applied Sciences @ General Motors
Dr. Scott Wolff is one of the OG data scientists right here in our neighborhood. He was building "intelligent" systems FOUR decades ago that would flow into what we call AI systems today. Scott holds a PhD in cognitive psychology from Northwestern University. He is a Staff Data Scientist in Marketing Applied Sciences at General Motors, Principal Data Scientist at Bighorn Analytics, and is a professor at Colorado Mesa University where he teaches Quantitative Thinking in the Davis School of Business.
